Mechanical Engineering CAD competition
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) employs specialized software to create 2D and 3D visuals and animations for projects in manufacturing, advertising, and technical documentation. CAD provides critical information, such as dimensions, materials, and tolerances, and is vital for solving engineering and manufacturing challenges.
This WorldSkills UK competition highlights core skills for a mechanical engineering career focused on CAD. Competitors will be evaluated on their ability to create 2D technical drawings, 3D models, assemblies, and 3D prints, as well as animations. A thorough understanding of ISO drawing standards and their application is essential. Competitors must use Autodesk Inventor or Fusion software for the tasks.
Digital construction Competition
Digital Construction involves using digital tools to create, coordinate, and manage Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) digital assets throughout a project’s lifecycle.
This competition showcases practical skills for improving the delivery and operation of built environments. Competitors will work on a Digital Construction project information model, creating structural and architectural models with a strong understanding of ISO 19650-1 and 19650-2 BIM standards, applying this knowledge in various scenarios. To complete the tasks, competitors must utilize Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud software.
National finals will take place between the 19th -22nd November 2024 in Manchester and we will proudly be presenting the medals for the Mechanical CAD competition.
